How to Download your Budget Template

Tutorial - Written Guide

Welcome, and thank you for downloading my budgeting spreadsheet and subscribing to the Money Momentum newsletter! Below is a step-by-step guide to help you access and start using the template, whether you're using Google Sheets or Excel. Let's get started!

Welcome Email: Finding Your Links

After subscribing, you'll receive a welcome email from Money Momentum. If you can't find it, check your spam folder and move it to your inbox. In the email, you'll find download links for both the Google Sheets and Excel versions of the template.

Google Sheets Version: How to Make Your Copy

1. Click the Google Sheets link in the email. It will open the spreadsheet in a browser.

Important: The file you’ve opened is the master version, which is protected. To get your own editable version, you need to make a copy.

    2. Click on File, then select Make a Copy.

    3. If the “Make a Copy” option isn’t available, it’s likely because you’re not signed into a Google account. Sign in, or create a free Google account if you don’t have one.

    4. Once signed in, click Make a Copy again. You’ll be prompted to name the file and choose where to save it in your Google Drive. Give it a name like "Best Budget Template on the Internet" and save it in the desired folder.

    5. After making your copy, this version is now yours! You can start entering your information, accounts, and transactions. I recommend bookmarking the file for easy access whenever you need it.

Excel Version: How to Download and Save

    1. Click the Excel download link in your welcome email. This will open a shared Google Drive folder.

Important: Don’t double-click the file. Google Sheets will try to open the Excel file, which won’t display properly. Instead, follow the next steps.

    2. To download the file, click the download icon (a downward arrow) or the three dots next to the file, then select Download. Google will perform a quick virus scan before the download begins.

    3. Once the file has downloaded, it may appear at the top of your browser. If not, you can find it in your Downloads folder.

    4. Open the file. By default, it will be in “Read-Only” mode, so you need to enable editing. Click Enable Editing at the top of the screen.

    5. Save the file by going to File > Save As, choosing a name and location on your computer (like your desktop). Now, this version is yours to use in Excel!

    Premium Version Users

If you've purchased the premium version of the spreadsheet, the steps are the same. The difference is that you’ll access the download links through a PDF file sent to you after purchase. The links will be included in that document.
